Methodology
This site is built to be checkable. Here is exactly where the numbers come from and what the labels mean.
Where facts come from
- Prices, plan allowances, overage rates and feature claims come only from each vendor's own public pricing or product pages.
- Every vendor record stores the source URL and the date we read it. Each profile and table shows that date.
- We do not use sales quotes, leaked price sheets or third-party price estimates. If a vendor does not publish a number, we say “not published.”
- Pricing pages are re-checked on a schedule and when we detect a change. When a number changes, the page's “last updated” date changes too.
How the pricing index is computed
- We pick fixed workloads (50, 100 and 200 calls per month) and assume a 3-minute average call.
- For each vendor we compute the cost of every published plan at that workload, including published overage, and show the cheapest.
- Per-minute plans are charged 3 minutes per call. Per-unique-caller plans are charged as if every call is from a different caller (the most expensive case).
- If no plan covers the workload and the vendor publishes no overage rate, we show “n/c” instead of estimating.
- Totals exclude taxes, phone-number fees and optional add-ons unless the page says otherwise.
What the labels mean
- Research-based: compiled from public vendor information. We have not used the product. This is the default for every page today.
- Hands-on tested: used only when we have actually run the product, with a dated test log published alongside. No page currently carries this label.
- Editorial opinion: our judgment about fit for a scenario, always marked as opinion and always based on the facts shown on the page.
What we never do
- Publish star ratings, “scores” or reviews we did not earn through real testing.
- Invent customer reviews, quotes, testimonials or reviewer personas.
- Let a commercial relationship change a ranking or a data point.
- Give legal, tax or compliance advice. Regulatory topics are summarized with links to primary sources.
Corrections
Vendors and readers can report errors through the contact page. We verify against the vendor's public page and update the record and date. Material corrections are noted on the affected page.
